Description
Ushira, also known as Cuscus Grass or Vetiver is popular as nectar in summers as it lightens all health-related heat in summer. These are perennial grass that can grow up to 1 to 2 meters high with wide clumps. Roots of the plants are spongy, stout and strong type with aromatic character. Ushira is well-known ayurvedic herb which is used for peacemaking the Pitta Dosha in Ayurveda. It is known for haematinic, expectorant, digestive, anthelmintic, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, diuretic, carminative, stomachic, antispasmodic, antiasthamatic, anti-oxidant, anti-arthritic activity and antigout properties.
The roots of Ushira are used for cooling action, to cool down brain and in treatment of ulcers. It is also used to cure problems like anemia, amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea. Whereas, the oil of the plant tends to calm stress, anxiety, insomnia and nervous tension due to presence of phytochemicals in the plant oil and other parts of Ushira.
